CitySquare fights the causes and effects of poverty through service, advocacy, and friendship. Over the past 30 years, CitySquare has grown from a small food pantry into a broad community development organization offering a comprehensive array of social services that address four key areas related to the persistence of poverty: hunger, health, housing, and hope. Together, more than 20 social service programs provide more than 50,000 human touches in Dallas, Waco, and Paris, Texas.

DRA Lending

DRA Lending is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a vision to revitalize the historically underserved community of south Dallas through microlending. We believe there is significant untapped human capital residing in the community that would thrive if given the encouragement, structure, and resources needed to pursue an entrepreneurial dream. To facility this vision, DRA Lending supplies microloans (typically no greater $10,000) to proven individuals with a desire to purse or further a business concept in south Dallas. There are places for government, civic, and church infusion to address needs in the community, but we believe individuals with business vision and financial strategies are the key to restoring this vital community to its rightful place of significance and influence in our city.

Dallas Designing Dreams

Dallas Designing Dreams' mission is to nurture the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of individuals with “Dreams or Broken Dreams” and provide them with new inspirations and opportunities for their innovative ideas and products. By doing so, we enrich the community by introducing one-of-a-kind art and handmade products to the local marketplace as well as the e-Market to offer alternatives to the mainstream shopping experience while connecting customers with local producers. Since 2006, with the help of many volunteers, the Executive Board members, Arthur Porter, Carla Robertson, Lillie Bills, and Lance Peeler, have collaborated to develop Dallas Designing Dreams, a viable community networking facility, to serve as a networking facility in the community. Dallas Designing Dreams offer creative skills development with marketing and entrepreneurial opportunities to youth, breast cancer survivors, young people with autism/learning differences, high school/college interns, veterans, and seniors.
